Nov 20. VimpelCom and Tsifrovoye Radioveshchaniye (Digital Broadcasting), part of AFK Sistema, have rolled out networks in Moscow to provide mobile television services. However, they cannot launch commercial operations of their networks until regulatory issues are cleared in the digital TV segment. VimpelCom’s subsidiary Dominanta, which holds licenses for cellular DVB-H TV services in Moscow and the Moscow region, has arranged test broadcasting of the Vesti 24 channel “for a limited number of persons from the project group”, VimpelCom’s press service said. This broadcasting was approved by the license holder VGTRK. Negotiations are underway with other broadcasting companies to expand TV content, VimpelCom noted.
